Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.
Have you ever seen a nice work of art? Maybe you saw a nice painting somewhere and you couldn’t take your eyes off of it. You actually wondered  what the person was thinking as they stroked the brush across the canvas.
Ephesians 2:10 reminds me of an artist work.  You see, God created us, He is the artist.  We are His “perfect” workmanship.  He made us beautiful and encoded in our hearts to do good work for him.  However, if we let sin enter our lives we can potentially take God’s wonderful workmanship and allow it to become ugly to others who see us on a daily basis.  The verse above reminds us that God has prepared us to do good works for Him.  Ask yourselves today, what have you done for Him? Have you reached out to a person in need or to someone who may be hurting?  When others see our good works they begin to ask questions.  They want to know what it is that makes us smile!
This week we will be wrapping up on our Friends series.  We will be talking about our “identity”.  What is it that identifies us?  Is it good works or something else?  See you Wednesday!

1 Thessalonians 2:4
“On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel.  We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts”.

At some point or another in our lives we have all faced peer pressure.  The key to peer pressure is not giving into it.  We all want to be accepted and join the “in crowd”.  However, sometimes the “in crowd” may not be the crowd we should be with.

You see, I think it’s far better to have 1 or 2 really close friends than to have many friends that really don’t care about how we feel or what we believe.   If all they want to do is have fun and not care if it’s right or wrong it could possibly hurt someone or hurt ourselves in that matter.

We may get teased by other people because we don’t want to do what they to do.  If we don't go along with them, we may face ridicule. But I say, 'who cares what they think'. Just keep pressing on and pleasing God.  Do what you know is right and stay focused on God.  After all, who are we really trying to please, men or God?  

This Wednesday night we will be staring our 2nd lesson on “Friends”.  We will be talking about peer pressure and how to deal with it.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”. – 2 Cor 4:18 (NIV)
When we look at all the things going on around us, we can get distracted. There is so many things trying to take up our attention. The things that we see are only temporary. None of it will last. Yet, the promises of God are eternal.

Placing our eyes and minds on the promises of God, helps us to see the unseen. These things will last forever. If God made a promise to you in the Bible, then you can be sure it’s eternal. It doesn’t matter if you see that promise working at this moment, it is a true promise and you can stand on it.
Trusting in God’s promises more than what you see around you can be very comforting. You can know that what you see is only temporary.

Today focus in on a promise that God made to you in the Bible. Realize that His promise to you is eternal.
Happy New Year!  I’m excited to see what God has in store for us in 2016.  This Wednesday night we will be back with our regular services.  We are starting a new series called “Friends”.  It is a 4 week lesson series by Sean McDowell.  We will start at 6:45 sharp.  See you there and God bless!!!
