When I am afraid, I put my trust in you - Psalm 56:3

Who you run to when you’re afraid shows a lot about who you trust most. If you run to a friend or a parent when you’re facing a scary situation, it shows that you trust that person to help you out.
In this Bible verse, the Psalmist talks about putting his trust in God. He has decided that God is going to be the person he goes to when he’s afraid. So how do you get to the place where you trust God enough to run to Him when you’re afraid? Many times it starts by getting to know God better. You begin focusing on all the things God has done in the past for those who loved Him.
As you focus on these things, it builds faith in your heart. You begin to trust that God will do the same for you. You begin to put your trust in God. So if your trust in God feels weak, begin to spend time in the Bible. Find stories to read about how He came through for those who placed their trust in Him. As you do this, your trust in God will grow, and He will be the one you run to when you’re afraid.

Don’t forget church family, we will have our BBQ lunch directly after service this Sunday in the Fellowship hall.  Plates are $7.50 each.  All proceeds are helping us fund our trip to SOAR in 2016.

Do You Believe?

Proverbs 3:6 “in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”

It can be scary thinking about your future.  What career will you pursue?  Which college is the right fit for you?  There are lots of questions and it can sometimes overwhelm you with uncertain answers.

However, God didn’t totally leave us in the dark about this.  God tells us in this verse that if we seek Him and His will, He will show us which path to take.  So instead of stressing out about which path you should take, spend some time seeking out God.  When you do that, He will begin to show you what way is the right way for you.

This Wednesday night we will start our 2nd week “Do You Belive”  Bible study series.  “Do you believe you’re a part of God’s plan?”

Hope to see you there!

Reminder……
The Main Event is having a BBQ lunch after service on November 1st.  This is a fund raiser to help us raise money for SOAR 2016.  We are asking our church family to help support us in this effort.
God bless,
Bro. Brian

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  – Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

Many people use the words mercy and grace interchangeably. However, these two words are different. God’s mercy is His forgiveness and kindness to us. However when the Bible speaks of God’s grace especially in the New Testament, it’s referring to His ability to do what you cannot do.

To really live the Christian life we need both. We need God’s mercy because without His complete forgiveness, we’d be unable to have any kind of true relationship with Him. However, without God’s grace (His ability working in us and through us) we are not really able to live like Jesus.

To receive this grace (ability of God) we need to come to Him. Not just once, but whenever we need His empowerment. This is often when we are being tempted. However, this is the opposite action we’d normally take.

Usually when we are being tempted, we want to sneak off away from God and then come back later.
This verse is saying that we can come to God boldly at any time and we will receive His mercy and grace. Today, don’t be afraid of getting close to God even in times you’re being tempted. Run to Him and receive His mercy and His grace.

This Wednesday night we will start a 4 week Bible study based on the movie “Do You Belive”  Please don’t miss out on this series.  See you Wednesday!!

Achieving a goal can give us confidence.  Think of a time when you achieved something very great, it was your proudest accomplishment.  How did accomplishing the feat make you more confident?  What other things make you feel confident on a day to day basis? On the other hand, how does failing to meet a goal affect your confidence?  We all have days when we feel better about ourselves than others.  But must our self-confidence be tied to what we accomplish in life?  The apostle Paul gives different reasons for his confidence. This Wednesday night we will be looking at Paul’s reasons for his confidence in God.  Hope to see you there!
