You’ve heard the old ancient proverb that “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch”.  This is a thought of one who stirs up trouble.  Even when things are going good, you have one person that digs up something to mess the whole thing up.  When trying to hold a solid youth group together, it sometimes only takes one person to bring down the entire group.  When this happens, it can take weeks or even months to resolve the issue and get everyone back to where they need to be.  Negativity is a part of our human nature, but we have to resist the temptation to become that bad apple and focus on the positive rather than the negative.  If we don’t then we have to face ourselves in the mirror and realize we have become the weakest link.
 
Philippians 4:8-   Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Youth Yard Sale

Praise Band
Praise band will meet this week at 5:45pm with everyone to discuss the upcoming semester and look at new music.  Please be here for this meeting if you plan to be a part of praise band.

The movie release date for Soul Surfer has been changed to August 2. We have postponed our luau and movie night until August 10. We will still meet at 6:00pm this week. We are looking at other movie options. Make plans to come and see what God has in store for you.

MANNERS!
Are you familiar with the phrases “yes and no mam or sir, or excuse me?  Do you snap rudly at your parents when they ask you simple questions?  What about speaking out loud when someone else is speaking and rudely interupting them?  This week’s discussion revolves around good and bad manners and why they are important.  It amazes me today to see people becoming more illmannered and less respectful than ever before.  The Bible teaches us proper ways of communication, respect, and gratitude; all of which we need to learn and put into practice no matter how old or young we are.  Manners should be taught in the school and the home, and if they are not practiced then what good do they become?  How are your manners?

A major down fall in our society today is the ability to effectively communicate with each other.  Most people prefer the methods of using text message, facebook, or myspace when in fact they may be avoiding the issue of confrontation.  It is important to learn how to interact with each other and not hide behind a telephone or computer.  If you are going to use your phone, pick it up and make a call instead of sending out a text message. If we don’t learn how to communicate properly, then how are we to become effective Christians when it comes to spreading the Gospel and helping others out who are in need?  Please join us this week as we discuss our topic of Effective Communication!!!!
