No Main Event this week!!!
We hope that you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July this week. We will not have services this Wednesday and look forward to getting back together next Wednesday night to see the movie “Seasons of Gray”, the true modern story of Joseph from the Bible. We want to encourage you to invite a friend and be present for this movie.

Summer Distractions

“Never Lose Sight”
We are almost to the half-way point of our summer and I thought I would give all of you a burst of encouragement to help you along. Make sure you stay involved in what’s going on around the church. We have much to see and do each week and we want our students to stay in touch with each other and with our youth functions and most of all God. We have been enjoying some great Christian movies the past couple of weeks and have several more to show later on in the summer once we get past Fourth of July. This week will be like a regular service with music and a devotion and maybe some other activities. With our new students moving up, we have a great opportunity for growth this summer if we all remain faithful each week. This becomes a good time to get to know each other away from the school atmosphere and get connected through the church. So don’t become lazy because we want you to be here each and every week. Even though this is the summer time, God wants us to keep Him in our sight. 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist his, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
These verses remind us we are not alone in the world and the devil looks for the weak to destroy so we need to stick together and be strong in our faith so we do not become the devil’s prey. So please be faithful to God this summer and never lose sight of Him, because when you do, you can easily fall victim to the devil.

Movie Night this Wednesday
As summer rolls on, we look to mix up our Wednesday night services with movies, documentaries, video lessons, and devos to get us through July. This will be a change of pace from our usual activities but at the same time give our students something fresh and spiritual to make it through the summer months. It is great to keep meeting and allowing our students to fellowship with each other as we start preparing for our upcoming Fall Semester.

Even though the adults will not meet this week, Main Event will meet.  We are watching a movie called Fern Hill about 4 boys who set out on a journey to find a boy’s father who was in a plane crash in the wilderness 10 years earlier. We will meet from 6:30-8:30pm this week and throughout the summer to allow more time for our videos and fellowship.

Mission Trip Recap

6/10/2014

With another mission trip in the books, our summer is now wide open and all we can do is look back and reflect on a successful week. As we completed this year’s trip, we measure our success by the lives we were able to touch and the work we accomplished. Teaming up with the Salvation Army in Panama City for our second straight year, we poured our hearts into setting a Christ-like example in our behavior, attitude, hard work, and actions while we there to serve the area of Panama City. From the feedback we received, we were able to make a great impression on many lives from our hotel, restaurants, and the Salvation Army. Our students performed very well and with their help we were able to separate, sort, and box around 22,000 pounds of food in 3 days. It was a great accomplishment for our mission team and we were grateful to be able to help the Salvation Army.
Being a church mission trip, we also had top priorities of studying God’s Word each day with our Bible study time. This year we walked through the book of James each morning before our day got started. Each day ended with individual room devotions.
We want to thank our church family for your support and funds to help us make this mission trip possible. We are thankful to have had such a safe and successful mission trip and have already begun making plans for next summer’s trip. We ask for you to continue praying for our students and youth program as we continue to keep God as the center of our lives.
