In recent studies I have read through, most churches of all denominations are agreeing that people aren’t dressing appropriately for worship services.  We have to admit, this is a place to worship God, not a Victoria Secret’s Fashion show.  Churches nationwide are saying there is too much skin being shown in the church.  The normal thing to do is to not say anything for fear we will offend someone.  We wait and hope they get a hint at some point, but that approach doesn’t work very well.  The less we say, the more it happens. We all want to dress comfortably, but we need to remember that church services aren’t the place for shorts,  short skirts, sleeveless shirts, shirts that expose the navel, and shirts for women that expose cleavage to name a few. 

Church needs to be the place where we show a bit more reverence and respect for why we are there.  I’m not saying shorts can’t be worn to church at times, I’m just simply addressing that the length needs to be more appropriate when we are in church.  It’s time Christians become an example for the world to follow, not Christians following the world.  Besides, people see how we dress away from church and at church as a reflection on God and our church.

Jonah and the Whale
What can we learn from the Bible story of Jonah and the Whale?  Obedience is better than Defiance!!! When God tells us to do something, we better not run from Him or we could end up in the belly of a whale.  Just a thought!
