Christianity and Construction

Christianity and Construction!!!
Think about life on a construction site; always building things up or tearing them down.  Which one would you rather do?  Each have their own benefit and purpose, but both do entirely two different things.  When we think of an old ratty building that is beyond saving, the best thing to do is to tear it down and start over.  This sounds fun when you get to take part of using a hammer, axe, saws, or even a jackhammer to dismantle a structure down to its foundation.  What about the other alternative?  Imagine having nothing but a vacant lot and you get to start fresh in building up the house or business of your dreams.

Looking from a construction standpoint, both serve a creative use and both are beneficial to getting the job done.  When looking from a Christianity standpoint, tearing down should never be an option.  Our goals should always be to build up…..no matter how ratty and crumbled down they appear, we are never to tear down.  Think about the words you use when talking to others; how you say what you say, the word choice you use, and the manner in which you use them.  All of these things matter when you are trying to build someone up.  If done incorrectly, you can weaken the foundation of the structure and later on it can crash down like tons of bricks!!!

In James 3: 5-6, the Bible says that “The tongue is like a fire, able to burn a whole forest from a single spark.”  Just imagine if you use a bunch of words the wrong way what it can burn down.  We need to make sure when we are talking to people our words aren’t damaging to them.  We want to be known as builders not demolitionist.  If we have kindness in our hearts, kind words will come from our mouths but if we have a hardened heart, then our words will be hard.

MOVIE NIGHT
THIS WEDNESDAY !!!
Attention Main Event students, this Wednesday night we will watch the movie “The Mighty Macs”. Start time is 6:00 p.m.

YARD SALE
Several around the church have asked about a yard sale.  We will have a yard sale this fall.  The date has not been set, but we will let you know as soon as it is set.  Our storage space is very limited so we ask that you PLEASE do not bring your items to church until we have set the date.  We just wanted to give you notice so you could be thinking about fall cleaning.

Main Event will meet this Wednesday night at our normal 6:45pm time.  It has been a busy summer with our student ministries program already raising money for next year’s mission trip.  After our car wash in Fulton and cotton candy sells during the 4th of July picnic in the park in Tupelo, we had a combined total of about $1200 to show for our efforts.  This is a good start for next year’s trip.

Youth Car Wash Results
The heat was definitely on as we endured 100+ degree temperatures this past Saturday at McDonald’s hosting our youth car wash.  It was extremely hot, but we did a lot of business and were able to raise $375 for next year’s mission trip.  A big thank you to all who helped out and especially to Scott Clouse for chipping in and getting soapy with all of us to help us out.  Great Job everyone!!!!

Fourth of July
As we continue our efforts to raise money for next year’s mission trip, we are pleased to announce that we have been given an opportunity to set up a vending booth at the 4th of July Picnic in the Park located at Ballard Park in Tupelo.  We will sell cotton candy, drinks, and some other items to help us raise our money.  Please be in prayer for us as we aim to reach our goal for next summer and take advantage of these opportunities to glorify our church and God through our work.
