We’ve gotten off to a great so far this semester.  I urge you to remain faithful this school year and continue to come out each week and worship with us at FBC Mantachie.  We have a lot of activities planned and hope that each of you will take part and let’s grow closer together and see what God has in store for us.  Here are some dates to remember for this semester:

MANTACHIE GOLD RUSH
This Saturday, August 28th, from 9am to 1pm, our FBC Youth Group will be set up at the Mantachie Community Center.  This is a chance for you to bring in your unwanted gold, silver or platinum jewelry and trade it in for cash money.  There will be a gold buyer on site to take your gold and pay you cash on the spot. We are raising money for our mission trip next summer. Please begin praying with us as we begin planning this outreach to others in need. 
 
Smart Cards
Our students are selling Lee County smart cards for $12 each.  There are lots of valuable discounts and coupons on them and they don’t expire until August 2011. 

PRAISE BAND
Praise band will practice this Wednesday at 5:45pm.  Excellent job last week and let’s keep it up as we work in our new singers for this semester.  Praise God for all your efforts!!!!!!

School is back in full swing with classes, studying, football, softball, and band practices and soon FOOTBALL SEASON!  This Wednesday we will kick off a new semester in Main Event with our “Welcome Back Night”.  We look forward to starting a new semester with a fun and awesome night of food, music, giveaways and God’s Word.  This is an open invitation for new students to get involved on Wednesday nights as we worship together. I encourage you to start this semester off by inviting your friends and jumping into what God has in store for us this fall.  It is Team Spirit night so be sure to dress the part and show your team spirit.

When you enter a Worship Service do you use music as an inspiration to worship your God and King, or is it just something you’ve always done to pass some time away at the beginning of each service?  When we take the opportunity to sing during Worship, God is listening not only to your mouth, but also your heart.  Our Worship should be genuine and heartfelt.  There is also a misunderstanding that if we don’t feel we can sing well, we shouldn’t sing at all; however the Bible tells us otherwise.  In Psalms 100: 1-2, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.”   
            
Psalms 108:1-3 “My heart is steadfast, O God: I will sing and make music will all my soul.  Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.  I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of You among the peoples.”

WELCOME BACK NIGHT
Next Wednesday will be our welcome back night.  We want to welcome you into a new school semester with music, games, giveaways, food, and most important God’s Word.  This will also be our high attendance night so try your best to make it next week and invite a friend.

It’s hard to believe summer is almost over and it’s time for school to start back!  We have had an awesome, fun and exciting break and we want to thank our Main Event students for their faithfulness to God over the summer months.  As a thank you and to motivate you for school on Friday, we have planned an end of summer get together.  We are going to meet this Wednesday night at Bro. Randy Boyd’s house for a night fun, games, food, and a devotion.  The van will leave the church at 5:45 and return at 8:00.  We love each of you and have enjoyed spending the summer with you and look forward to use our new knowledge learned at SOAR to strengthen our youth group when school begins. 

NEXT WEEK
Next week we will meet back in Amphitheatre for our regular services starting at 6:45pm.  With summer now over, it’s time to get focused on the school year and to remember who can help you get through it all….GOD!!!!
