Think Before You Speak

2/24/2011

This week Bro. Lee Loden will bring the message. Please pray for him as he shares his heart with you this week.

Ever heard the expression “Think Before You Speak”?  Well how are your people-person skills? Do you know how to communicate with others?  Here are some tips to help you along.

Ten Commandments of Human Relations
1. Speak to People- There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.
2. Smile at People- It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile (less work)
3. Call People By Name- The sweetest music to anyone’s ears is the sound of his / her own name.
4. Be Friendly- and helpful. If you have friends, be a friend.
5. Be Cordial- Speak and act as if everything you do is a genuine pleasure.
6. Be Genuinely interested in people. You can like almost everybody if you try.
7. Be Generous with praise; cautious with criticism.
8. Be Considerate with the feelings of others. There are usually 3 sides to a controversy; Yours, the other person, and the right side.
9. Be Alert to give service. What counts most in life is what we do for others.
10. Add to This a good sense of humor, a big dose of patience and a dash of humility, and you will be rewarded many-fold.

Hopefully these commandments will help you communicate with others better!!!!!!

Lesson 6: “Trust” -

The key to a longer, stronger, happier life. Do you have trouble trusting others?  What about yourself? No matter the case, trust is a difficult chore when you look at it.  We have to be willing to rely on something beyond our control to make it happen. Jesus said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” –Mark 9:23. If you are not happy with your health, weight, life, spirituality, or other aspects of your life, maybe you lack TRUST!!!! In order to see the difference being made, we have to believe something can go right or we can make a difference. This is the hardest factor in getting healthy and getting more spiritual because we fail ourselves; and we don’t trust that we can stick with it.  I’m asking you this week to stick with it and trust in the Lord to help you become a better you. Challenge yourself to become a better person spiritually and physically because that’s what God wants of you.

“Trusting requires you relying on someone else to be there when you need them.”

Thank You for Your Help!
Please pray for us as the travel the next couple of weeks.  We will miss all of you very much!!!!

Thanks to all of our Youth Workers for doing our service next week.  I know it will be great!

Spiritual Exercise - Lesson 5 "Rest"

2/10/2011

I know what you are thinking, what does rest have to do with fitness?  Actually, more than you think. Even God took the time to rest and so should we.  Getting the proper amount of sleep can affect your day completely; too little sleep can make you very tired which affects your decision making abilities and too much sleep has been proven to become unhealthy to the body.  We need an average of 8 hours per night to maintain a healthy amount of rest in a day.  When you get stressed out, burdened, overwhelmed, and way too busy….sometimes you just need a break.  Sit down, relax, and get away from all your distractions and just “REST”.

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

“Rest is what we do to let stress subside. Rest at the end of a day, and at the end of a week, helps us to calm down.”

“Be Still and Know I am God” -Psalms 46:10

Spiritual Exercise: Lesson 4

2/3/2011

Lesson 4: “Temperance” I’m going to guess the biggest obstacle we face when trying to maintain a fitness program and sticking with it, is ourselves! This week we are talking about temperance; or in other words, your self control. Temperance is the will power it actually takes for you to stay with something and not quit. Just like your faithfulness of coming to church or reading your Bible; you are your biggest obstacle.  If you don’t have the “brain power” to want to do something, chances are you will slip up and get out of your “routine”.

“Mind Power” is sometimes the best power!
When you know right from wrong and are able to make smart choices, God will bless you in return.
Genesis 2:16-17 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
