Spring is in the Air~

It’s hard to believe spring is already here.  When I think of spring, I think of the freshness of new beginnings.  The trees and flowers begin to bloom, the weather begins to warm and students begin to get spring and summer
fever!  I’m reminded that in the beginning God created…And it was good.  Sometimes we just need to step back and enjoy the beauty of the earth He created.  A lot of times we are so busy with the daily grind of life that we forget to stop and ‘smell the roses’.

I encourage each of you to take a moment this week and look around at the freshness of spring!  Take a walk, or sit on the front porch, then take a deep breath and thank God for what He has given us!  No matter where we are in life, we serve an Awesome God and He is worthy of our thanksgiving.
P.S……But as I look at this week’s forecast, you do know that springtime in Mississippi can be very windy and cold.  That’s because God does have a sense of humor.  That’s why we praise Him

Having said that, summer will be here before we know it.  We are in full swing planning for our student summer trip.  I hope you will join me in prayer as God begins to open doors for us to minister to
others.

The Hats We Wear

3/4/2013

Have you ever thought about the responsibility of being a hat, or what’s its purpose?  For example, a hard hat or helmet protects us when playing sports or working around construction, and it also helps protect our heads from sun burn and helps keep the sun out of our eyes when it is sunny.  Another responsibility for a hat is identifying those in authority like our military, law enforcement, and fire fighters.   And another responsibility for a hat is just looks or fashion.

Have you ever heard the expression “I wear many hats”?  This means that a particular person holds many different responsibilities in their life just like a hat does.  One hat may be a parent another is probably a job, another could be a hobby, pet owner, volunteer, musician, athlete, etc.  In other words, our responsibilities are each measured by a different hat.  It’s cool once you think about it, but it leaves me with the question, how many hats do you wear?  Are you good at managing your responsibilities and multi-tasking, or do they seem overwhelming at times?  When this occurs, we need to question each hat we are wearing and analyze its importance.  If some responsibilities are getting neglected because we have too much going on, then we need to “hang up” some of our hats and focus on the ones that matter.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV): Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

This tells us that God wants us to put His work first in our lives always, and we will be rewarded for our efforts.
