As we began looking inside the story of Bethany Hamilton, we saw from lesson 1 how her faith was awesome even from an early age.  Even before her accident she was asking God to use her and identify His purpose for her life.  As we get ready for lesson 2, we will see how Bethany handles the tragedy of the shark attack, learns to deal with life with one arm, and God’s plans for her.

Sometimes when we face tragedy, it’s how quickly we pick ourselves back up and continue that defines our faith in God.  Let Him be your rock and foundation today.  We can’t change what happens in our lives, but we can look at the positive of how God is going to use those circumstances for good in our lives.

Matthew 7:24-27    “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. A Special Thanks!

Our FBC Student Ministries had a great week last week with welcome back night for our 40+ students on hand and now we are officially back to business.  We have a busy semester in store for our teens and much to do in preparation for next summer’s mission trip.  We already have 1 fundraiser completed and a second one on the way with the selling of our Lee County Smart Cards for $15 each. We have a second yard sale set for October 8th and will post more information regarding it when the time is closer. 

Soul Surfer lesson 1
For the next couple of weeks we will study the faith of Bethany Hamilton and discuss her story as portrayed in the movie Soul Surfer.  I hope that all of our students will see how her situation from the shark attack improved her relationship with God to an even stronger level than it was before.
Sunday School
If you are in the 7th grade through 12th grade we want to invite you to attend our Sunday School class each week at 10am in the Amphitheatre.  We are starting a new video Bible study dealing with the life of Joseph.

It’s TIME!!! Time to get find a rhythm,
time to make a difference,
time to make the commitment,
and time to get back to The Main Event. 

Summer is officially over and now it’s time to get back to business.  I want to thank our youth group for being faithful over the summer and staying in touch so we could grow closer together and now it’s time to put that to good use.  Let’s make every effort to become what God wants us to be and help our youth group become something very special. 

It’s TIME to come together for GOD!!!

They’re here!!! The new 2011-2012 Lee County Smart Cards.  For only $15 you can buy a discount card that will save you a lot of money at participating stores around the Tupelo area. If you are interested in buying one, please see one of our Main Event students or youth workers.  Cards are also available at the church office.  Money raised will help sponsor our 2012 Summer Mission Trip.  Thank You for your support.

Youth Yard Sale Results
Thank you church family and friends for helping us to get a head start on raising money for next summer’s Mission Trip.  We are excited to say we raised $1200 at our yard sale and may possibly have another one in October.  Your donations were very generous and we appreciate it very much.

With summer winding down we want to reward our students for their faithfulness during the summer by having a swim party.  We will meet at 6:00 pm this Wednesday night at Bro. Randy Boyd’s house. We will not be serving food so please eat before you come.

Next Week Movie Night
Soul Surfer has finally arrived!!  We will watch this movie next week and have our Luau Night starting at 6pm.  Don’t miss this amazing true story about how God uses tradgedy in a young girl’s life.  Please make plans to be here for the fun, food, and movie.  Invite your friends!!!
