Beginning next Wednesday, I want to encourage our students to take a “STAND” for their Christianity.  I have composed a message made up of 5 principles to help our young Christians learn what they need to do in order to stand up for God in their lives.  Over the next 3 weeks we will discuss these principles as: Strategy, Transform, Attitude, Not-Ashamed, and Determination.  Put these 5 together and apply them to your life, and you should find it much easier to live your life according to God’s Will.  These lessons are designed to help students understand the meaning of what it takes to become a strong Christian in the world we live in.  It starts with “a strategic game plan that will transform your attitude to be not ashamed of living your life as a true Christian.  And through the completion of this message, you will be determined to make a difference for Christ.”  I look forward to teaching this series for the next 3 Wednesday nights and my prayer is for our students to learn the importance of standing firm for Christ each and every day.

     Do you have good study and reading habits?  This is a question I want to discuss this week as we look into how we feed ourselves each week with our Bible study and devotional time.  If you read the same material the same way from the same books each week, eventually you can burn out from your routine.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that having a routine in bad, but there should be nothing routine about a routine.  What I mean is that you mix it up each week or every other week to give your study time some freshness.  Even teaching from some Sunday school books, they begin to sound repetitious from week to week so if it is burning you out to study and teach from this material, imagine how your class would feel to hear you teach it?  What about your prayer time?  Do you have it programmed to be the same time and place each day?  If you feel your prayer time can be better, mix it up!  Choose a different time of day or a different location; as long as you are getting your time with God and can truly focus on your prayers this is what will count. 
   Routines are good to have because they keep us going and on track, but just remember your “spiritual routine” should be something that is refreshing to you.  So if your time with God is becoming lacking in any way, just MIX IT UP!

“A message about fitting in”
Ever heard the old saying “that fits like a square peg in a round hole”?  That’s a funny saying when you think about it because we have all been there; some awkward situation or a group of friends you’ve always wanted to be a part of, or maybe a new town you moved to, or even a new job you just got.  At some point we’ve all been the square peg trying to fit in.

Sometimes being a Christian means that you go against the grain of everyone else around you.  You become a square peg that is not supposed to fit in, but to be unique and different.  That was actually God’s intentions when He created us, was to become something out of the ordinary.  God made us that way, because Christianity is something that shouldn’t be forced, like a square peg into a round hole.  Once we become a child of God, living for Him should be second nature even though Satan is going to still temp us, we have the power of God inside of us to see us through anything he throws our way.  So, if you’re trying to fit in somewhere you don’t need to, then check God for confirmation and make sure He approves before you make a mistake.

This week marks our “Welcome Back Night” for the Main Event to officially start back for this school year.  We have had a tremendous summer as far as having our students being faithful at church and now we are hoping that will continue and even increase as the school begins.  This Wednesday is also a good time to show off your school colors with “School Spirit” night.  We are very excited about the upcoming year with bible studies, music, activities, games, and much more.  We want to see our students develop into strong Christians and become inspirations in their schools, churches, and homes.  So let’s get ready for The Main Event with our official welcome back night this Wednesday starting at 6:45pm in the amphitheater.    We look forward to seeing you then!!!

This week we will conclude the DVD series “The Bible”.  This has been a fabulous video series consisting of ten 45 minute episodes and I highly recommend it to everyone.  Our students have been very faithful throughout the summer to see this series and we have gotten excellent feedback because of it.  As we conclude the series this week, we are getting ready for our “Welcome Back Night” next week.

Lazy days are over
And school is back again
It’s time to get up early
Time to not sleep in,

To make a good impression
On the teachers that we take
And strive for higher grades
In home ec. we can bake a cake,

School brings life a schedule
Whether we like it or not
To hopefully keep us out of trouble
From the evils that we plot,

So put on your better clothes
To look sharp the first day
And smile each chance you get
To share God’s Spirit along the way!
