Many times when bad stuff happens in life, it can be easy to want to blame God. It's easy to get angry at God when something doesn't go your way or turn out like you expected. However, God shows us in this verse that He isn't to blame for the bad stuff that happens in life.
Jesus came so that we could have life, and have an abundant life. So when bad things happen, realize that blaming God doesn't do any good. Jesus came to give us an abundant life! As we start the New Year let us remember the encouragement and comfort from God's Word. Bro. Brian This Wednesday night J.T. and Ashley will be leading our services in Main Event. We will start at 6:45. 2018 HAPPY NEW YEAR Have there ever been times in your life when you felt alone? Maybe you feel like your parents don’t understand you, or you’re going through a hard time and everyone around you is just too busy to care. Feeling alone is something that everyone faces at some point in their lives. However, the good news is, you’re never really alone.
You might feel like every person around you has left you, or doesn’t care, but the good news is Jesus will never leave you. In this verse it tells us that His name is Immanuel, which means God is with us. God is with you. That’s good news. If you’re going through a tough or lonely time, take comfort in today’s verse. You can know that you’re never really alone. You’ve got Jesus with you. He’s there to walk with you through every trial and situation that you face. God bless, Bro. Brian THANK YOU Once again Thank you to our church family that supported our college students this past Sunday. We raised a little over $400 to help cover some costs to Passion this year. Please continue to pray for them and this new ministry. If you feel the need to help in anyway please let us know. I’m really excited what God is doing in our church with the students. We’ve grown a lot over the past year and it’s a blessing to work and be apart of the lives of these college students. I’m ready for Januarry when Passion 2018 arrives. I’ll have more to share about the Passion conference in the coming weeks. Brian ------------------------------------------------- A Christmas Party The Main Event will have our Christmas party December 20th @ 6:00PM in the amphitheater. We will have food, games and a movie. Wear your ugly sweater or Christmas PJ’s. ------------------------------------------------- Youth Praise team practice this Wednesday at 5:45. Have you ever taken a moment to think about the fact that God delights in you? He doesn’t just put up with you to be nice. He really delights in you. He loves you. He wants nothing more than to have a relationship with you.
God created us to be in relationship with Him. He created us to spend time getting to know Him and to worship Him. God loves us so much that He went out of His way to bring us back to Him through what Jesus did on the cross. This should change how you live your life. The realization that God created you and delights in you should make us happy. You should no longer look down on yourself or feel like you don’t measure up to other people’s standards. Rather, you should see yourself how God sees you. You are important and have worth because God delights in you God bless, Bro. Brian The Main Event will be starting a 4 week series on “Conflict”. In these 4 sessions, students share real life stories about they conflict they expereince in their lives. Doug Fields, writer and speaker will share Biblical insite on how to deal with the most common areas of conflict and teaches students how to reach peace and forgiveness in their lives. ------------------------------------------------- Fire up the smoker…. The Main Event is having a BBQ lunch fundraiser November 5th after morning worship. All proceeds from the lunch will help our students get back to Dallas this year for SOAR. ------------------------------------------------- Youth Praise team practice this Wednesday at 5:45. ------------------------------------------------- This Wednesday night is the last night for our food drive. We want to donate these food items to our local Mantachie food pantry! Let’s do this and help fight hunger in our local community. How many times do we feel that we need the approval of others to make us happy? We might think if we could just get the cute girl in math class to like us, or hang out with the right people at school we’d be happy.
The truth in this scripture is that we don’t need others to make us happy. We’ve been accepted by God. We have peace with God. Our acceptance and happiness is based on what God says about us, not what others say. Knowing this can change your life. When you begin to realize God’s great love for you, it changes everything. God loves you unconditionally. He loves you regardless of who likes you or doesn’t like you. You can be happy knowing that you’ve been made right with God! God bless, Bro. Brian MOVIE NIGHT This Wednesday night, October 4th is movie night. We will start Main Event @ 6:30. Refreshments will be provided! See you there! ------------------------------------------------- Bon Fire Service The Main Event will be having a Bon Fire service on October 11th. The service will be at Rebekah McCreary’s house. The bus will leave the church at 6:30PM. We will arrive back at the church around 8:15 that evening. I can’t wait, this will be a fun night! Please make plans to attend. ------------------------------------------------- Many times in life we want to get God’s leading direction for our lives. We hope that God will appear in a giant cloud or send an angel to tell us the next thing we are to do. Often, we expect that thing to be a big leap into the future. And while God can at times lead us this way, many times God leads us through smaller things.
That is what this verse is talking about. This verse tells us that our steps are directed by God. God is directing the small things in life. He shows us one small thing to do, then another, followed by another. All those steps together add up to something really great God has for us to do. Most of the people who did great things for God did it in small steps and stages. In the Bible David killed the lion and the bear before defeating the giant. This shows us that it is often the small choices and the small steps me make each day that end up making a big difference in the course of our lives. So today remember to act on the small things that God is putting on your heart to do. Those small things often end up setting you up for big things later in life. Bro. Brian ------------------------------------------------- THANKS Thanks again to Ashley Thompson for sharing with us this past Wednesday.
