This week we will conclude our God’s Not Dead study series with lesson 4 “Lean on Me”. As we discussed last week the importance of having the right friends in your life and what it means to stay close to positive influences. This week, we are looking specifically at having Jesus as our closest friend and doing whatever it takes to not turn our backs on Him. At some point in our lives we will be hurt or betrayed by one of our closest friends and learn how painful this feels. We will use this illustration by relating it to Jesus and how often we turn our backs on Him to follow influences that go in the opposite direction as Him. This lesson also gets into the topic of forgiveness and what it means not to hold grudges against those who offend and hurt us, but to pray for them and forgive them. We have had great response each week to these lessons and I hope each of our students will continue their positive feedback as we conclude this lesson study.
Choosing Friends Wisely
Remember Proverbs 18:24 as you choose the friends you hang out with as it says, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Be sure those who you hang out with believe the same things you do concerning Jesus. If not, you will probably be faced with a decision someday to choose your friends or Jesus…..which will you choose?
