By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:35 (NIV)12/6/2018 How do you know that a car is a car? There are certain characteristics about a car that make it unique. These are the things that help you recognize a car. For example, you notice that it has four wheels, side mirrors, windows or an engine. These things make a car different than a horse, or a house.
How you know a car is a car is a lot like what today’s Bible verse is talking about. There are certain things that make a Christian a Christian. One of those things is love. As Christians, we should be loving each other, not tearing others down. Love is a characteristic that should define Christians. Love shows up in many areas of our lives. How do we treat our mom? What do we do about the old lady down the street that needs help bringing in her groceries? These things are all examples of showing love to others. Love should be a trademark for Christians. SOUP LUNCHEON Thank you First Baptist for supporting our college ministry this past Sunday. Our soup lunch was a success. We raised a little over $400 dollars. All the money raised will go towards Passion 2019 in Atlanta Georgia. Youth Praise Team Practice this Wednesday at 5:45PM This Wednesday night is our “Welcome Back” night in Main Event. I can’t begin to tell everyone how excited I am to start back with regular services. Please be in prayer for this special night. Our message is entitled “We are the Main Event”. I have done this message before but I have changed things up a little bit. I felt the God tugging at my heart to share some others thoughts. Let’s make this a great year in Main Event. I will see everyone Wednesday at 6:45.
College leaders please wear your “Door Holder” t-shirts and Adults please wear your Main Event t-shirts. ---------------------------------------------- Praise Team Practice Wednesday at 5:45PM ---------------------------------------------- This past Wednesday we had our “Back to School Bash”. We had a great turnout of students. Thanks again for all the help in preparing for this fun night. I know we had over 60 people in attendance. Thank you Lord!! Going to school isn’t always fun. In fact, it can feel at times like you’re getting teeth pulled. However, putting into action these suggestions will help you make this school year more fun.
I hope all of you have a great first week back at school. I’m praying for y’all. See you Wednesday. Don’t forget… Back to School BASH This Wednesday August 8th will be our “Back to School Bash”. I have rented a HUGE inflatable water slide that will be set up in the lower parking lot. We will have hot dogs and ice cream. Be sure to invite a friend, especially a friend that isn’t a part of a youth ministry. We will at 6:00PM and go till 8:00PM. "My son, keep your father's command and do not forsake your mother's teaching." - Proverbs 6:207/25/2018 Sometimes it can be really hard to do your best. Maybe you have a teacher at school who never gives out grades that you feel are fair, so you want to stop even trying. Or perhaps you've got a boss at work who never seems to notice how hard of a worker you are and you're frustrated.
It can be really easy in life to let what others think and say discourage us from doing our best at school or a job. However, we shouldn't be letting other people have the final say in how hard we work. We should be doing all things for God. So regardless of whether your boss or teachers notice, you should always be doing your best. God notices and he will reward you in time. So challenge yourself to do your best in everything you tackle each day. Take pride inworking hard and you'll be excited to see how far that attitude takes you. God bless, Bro Brian Watever you do, Do it all for the glory of God |
