How precious to me are your thoughts, God!  How vast is the sum of them!  Where I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand - when I awake, I am still with you.  Psalm 139:17-18

It’s one thing to know there is a God out there. However, it really is amazing to think that God is thinking about you! In fact, David writes that God thinks about us so much that it’s more than the grains of sand in the world. That’s a ton of thoughts!

God thinks about you. He’s interested in you and your life. He wants you to reach out to Him and to get to know Him as He knows you.

Begin a journey of knowing God. You can start by simply asking Him to show Himself to you. You can learn a lot about God simply by reading your Bible and connecting with other mature believers at your church. Be encouraged today, God is thinking about you!

God Bless,

Bro. Brian

We had a great time this past Sunday night at Winter Jam 2020.  It was a sold out event.  Thanks again to our church family for allowing us to go.  Also, another big shoutout to Mike and Elizabeth Johnson for delivering the pizza while we stood in line!  Those kids were hungry!  J

 M FUGE

I’m asking our church family to start praying for our student ministry.  We are all set and ready to attend MFUGE this year in Ridgecrest North Carolina.  All the students have turned in their deposits and had their forms signed by the parents.  Let’s pray for a heart changing event.  If you would like to donate to our mission trip this year, please mark your offertory envelope with “Main Event mission trip” so I know where to put the money.  We’ve got some fundraising work to do prior to leaving in July so start praying now.  I know God will provide!

Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."

"Lord, I pray that our students will experience the peace of God this year that exceeds all understanding.  I pray they will not worry about things they cannot control, but that You will guard their heats and minds and keep them trusting in You.  I pray they will not only enjoy the peace of God, but peace with God.  I pray they will develop a spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving as they look to You daily for their needs.  I pray that You will give them the capacity for joy that bubbles up from Your peace."
Amen.

It's hard to believe that 2020 is here!  It seems 2019 has flown by way to fast.  With each new year comes new challenges.  I want to encourage each of you to pray daily for your school, your teachers, your friends, and our youth group.  Isaiah 26:3 challenges us to be steadfast with God, to keep our hearts and minds on Him!  Let's do that this year!  Trust God, and see what blessings He has in store for us!

God Bless,

Bro Brian

He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth

Isn't it crazy how busy we are?  As students, we are constantly running from one thing to the next.  Rush to get to class.  We rush to get to practice.  There is so much rushing, that often, we forget to simply be still and listen for God to speak.

The thing about God is that He's not going to force you to stop and listen to Him.  He does want to speak to you, but He's not going to force you to make that happen.  There's never going to be a completely perfect time to hear from God.

That means you've got to be intentional about getting still to hear from God.

God wants to speak to you.  He wants to help you make good decisions, to show you how much He love you, and to be a part of your life.  However, He's not going to force His way into your life.  Instead, you've got to choose to let Him in.

The amount you hear from God is up to you.  God wants to speak to you all the time!

Today's Challenge:  Be Still

"for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." - 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

We usually hear today’s verse in light of fear. However, it can help us with success also when it comes to school. Have you noticed in school sometimes it’s really hard to be present when your teacher is speaking? Maybe it’s a lecture on the most boring history period known to man and there’s nothing you’d rather do than check out.

Today’s verse mentions that we’ve been given self-control. That means we can control ourselves even when the teacher is boring.

Today’s tip for success at school is to show up. Your body might be in your seat, but often, mentally you’re checked out. You’re thinking about what’s for lunch or what you might do after school.

Instead of letting your mind wander during class, be determined to show up mentally. It’s amazing how good you can do on a test if you’ve really paid attention in class.

So today, if you’ve gotten in the bad habit of not being present mentally, remind yourself of today’s verse. Realize that you have self-control and you can determine to pay attention. You’ll be impressed at how your grades will improve if you show up mentally to class.

 SEE YOU AT THE POLE

“See you at the Pole”
Next Wednesday September 25th, 2019.

See You at the Pole, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

See You at the Pole is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event. Please pass the word onto your friends at school to meet at the flag pole on September 25th.

1 Timothy 4:14 "Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you."

Do you remember when you were a little kid? You’d get a new toy for your birthday, and you’d love that toy. You’d play and play and play with it. Then, after about a week or two, the toy would get boring. The newness had worn off and it wasn’t as exciting anymore. It’s easy to get a gift and then after a few months totally forget about it, because it’s not as exciting as it once was.
Spiritually, it’s easy to do the same thing. You’ve been given spiritual gifts. God has gifted you for a unique purpose and calling. However, it’s easy to often forget about the gifts or become used to them so they don’t seem special anymore.
In today’s verse, we are challenged to not neglect our gifts. Don’t forget about the things that God has spoken to you about your future. Choose to remind yourself of what God has said to you. Also, don’t take your gifting for granted. Your gift is important to God’s plan and purpose on the earth. Even if you’re not like others, don’t get discouraged. God has gifted and called you for a special purpose.
Stir up that gift. Don’t let it get old and boring. Remind yourself of how special you are to God and how important your gift is to His plan. Ask God to show you how you can use your gift to help others today.

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.  The LORD, The LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.  Isaiah 12:2

Have you noticed how crazy your emotions are sometimes? You can be having the best day, then something bad happens and it goes from a great day to horrible. When emotions get involved, things can easily go from good to bad.
The interesting thing is that our emotions follow our thoughts. If we find ourselves overcome with fear, we need to stop and think what we’ve been thinking about. Have we been focused more on the problems going on or on God?
God wants us to trust in Him. He shares in this verse that He is our strength and song. If we think on this truth and the fact that He is our salvation, our emotions will eventually get caught up in this instead of fear. So today, if fear has been an issue in your life, be encouraged. Focus on the goodness of God and choose to let Him be your strength. Focus on God and your emotions will get in line too.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. - Ephesians 4:2

Being patient with others is really hard. Other people sometimes just don’t do what you want them to do. They don’t say what you want them to say and treat you the way you want to be treated. Regardless of how others treat you, the Bible tells us that we are to give others a break.
We have the love of God in our hearts and we are to love others out of that love. It doesn’t matter what others do to us, what matters is our response to them. When faced with a person that doesn’t treat you right, you’ve got a choice to make. Will you respond to them out of anger or will you respond to them out of love?
The Bible tells us that love is always the right choice, but it isn’t always easy. So today, choose to love others. Realize that you’ve got the love of God inside you to do it; even when they drive you crazy and make you mad, ask God to show you the good in the situation. Today, choose to practice patience with others.

Joshua 4:3 (ESV) "and command them, saying, 'Take twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests' feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in the place where you lodge tonight."

Throughout the Bible, God would have people do certain things to help them remember something He did for them. In today’s verse, we see God encouraging Israel to set up stones to help them remember how God helped them cross the river. God did this so they wouldn’t easily forget what He had done in their lives.
For us, it’s easy to forget the goodness of God too. We face a new problem, and it makes us forget the good things God has done for us in the past. In the Old Testament, they often would build a memorial. Today, your parents might not be too happy with you building a huge tower in your backyard. However, there are things we can do to remember without building something.
One easy thing to do is to put it in your phone. Maybe you got saved and know the date you made that decision. Put it in your phone and set your phone to alert you every year on that date. When the reminder goes off on your phone, you get a chance to remember what God did for you.
If you don’t have a phone, start a journal. Write down the things God is speaking to you. Then take some time every once in a while to go back and read what you wrote previously. You’ll be amazed at all the things you can see that God has done in your life up to this point.
Whatever you do, make sure that you’re marking the things God has done for you. It’s so easy to get busy and forget that God has been moving in your life. Make a habit of marking down what God has done in your life and then spending time thanking Him for His goodness to you.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6

5/2/2019

People sometimes mistake thinking there are many ways to get to God. They say that all religions will point you to the same God. They say it doesn’t really matter how you get there, just do what way seems like the right way for you. However, this is not what Jesus says. In this verse above, Jesus says that He is the only way to God. He says that He is the truth and the life and that no one can come to the Father (God) except through Him.

If Jesus is the only way to God the Father, then anyone who is trying to come to God without going through Him are missing it. It may seem harsh but it is the truth. No one can reach God without Jesus. In reality, we all are in a hopeless situation without Jesus. We are all unclean and sin without even knowing it. We desperately needed Jesus. God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to be the answer for all mankind.

So how do we get to God? We must humble ourselves and stop relying on other ways to get to Him. We cannot get to God through trying to be good enough, trying to do religious acts or even trying not to sin. We have to stop all of that and simply believe completely on Jesus. Even if you’re already born again, the same way you receive Jesus is the same way you continue on this journey with God!
