From the book “The Church Awakening”, Charles Swindoll states “to worship God the Father, an individual must come through Jesus”. Sound pretty narrow? It is!
Don’t be afraid of the narrowness. We’re living in a pluralistic, postmodern era when people don’t care what your god is, as long as you’re sincere. (There’s a great Hebrew word for that way of thinking: hogwash!) It does matter in whom you believe. Let’s be very clear about that. Through Jesus you came to know the living God. Salvation is by faith alone through Christ alone. Jesus is why you have peace in your heart. Jesus is the reason you’re ready to live and also, when necessary, ready to die. Jesus is why you can worship the living God. It is not politically correct, but it is biblically accurate to say that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humankind. Make no mistake: the means of salvation is narrow. Jesus said that “the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life” (Matt. 7:14).
