Our annual meeting will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Tishomingo on Saturday morning, October 9th at 9:30 a.m.
I’m asking every church to come prepared to discuss three specific topics (in addition to other issues) this year:
• Our monthly meetings - Less than half of our churches attend the meeting on any given month. Some pastors have said that they would prefer moving to quarterly meetings. Others have said that Friday nights were not convenient (especially in the Fall). Does your church attend faithfully? What could be done to encourage better participation?
• Our disbursements - Our missions’ committee will offer recommendations concerning our missions giving for the upcoming year. Our involvement with Bro. Garcia’s work (now that they have organized) will be addressed. We will discuss other missions’ projects in Mississippi…and even the idea of beginning a new work! We can also discuss other ministries that merit our attention.
• Our summer camp - Tishomingo State Park is limited in how many campers may attend at one time. If for no other reason than that, many of our churches are not coming each summer. I want us to discuss possible alternatives that may offer stronger participation among our churches.
Take some time to consider these vital issues. Discuss them with your church. If you have ideas that you would like to talk about prior to the meeting, then call or email me.
Associations exist to help churches fulfill their calling from God. It’s not the other way around. So, what is the Harmony Association doing to help your church? What can it do better? Let me hear from you!!!
