If we were as wonderful as we think we are, we should think we are a lot less wonderful than we do. True greatness is always humble.
We can get ourselves into deep trouble by being too proud. There are too many people who believe every compliment given to them.
Humility is not an easy attainment. Only God is sufficient for the quest. The quest must really be a conquest – of the proud, assertive, self-sufficient, worldly-wise, managerial ego. Here are some suggestions to help deliver us:
I. Begin the day by looking at Jesus. Luke 14:7-11
II. Recall your own sins and imperfections. James 4:6-10
III. Be intentional in forgetting the imperfection of others. Colossians 3:12-14
Humility is not weakness but strength, for it receives the strength of God.
