11:00 A.M. We lovingly remember these 8 from our church memberships, who now “walk with the angels”: 1. Joe Thaxton 5. James Reich 2. Mildred Brown 6. Johnnie Grissom 3. Randel Phifer 7. Gwendola Camp 4. Ladd Stokes 8. Ruby Rusoe Luke 16: “the poor man died and was carried by the angels”. I read about a grandfather who found his grandson jumping up and down in his playpen, crying at the top of his voice. When Johnnie saw his grandfather, he reached up his little chubby hands and said, “Out, Gramps, out.”
It was only natural for the grandfather to reach down to lift him out of his predicament, but as he did the mother of the child stepped up and said, “No, Johnnie, you are being punished---so you must stay in.” The grandfather was at a loss to know what to do. The child’s tears and chubby hands reached deep into his heart. But the mother’s firmness in correcting her son must not be taken lightly; but love found a way. The grandfather could not take the grandson out of the playpen, so he climbed in with him. Beloved that is what our Lord Jesus Christ did for us at the cross. In leaving heaven for earth He climbed in with us. The Bible says, “The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” -Copied- A pastor loved telling stories to the children in his congregation. He’d call the children up to the front of the church, they’d sit on the floor, and he’d tell them a story. One day he said, “Boys and girls, I want to tell you a story about someone who likes to live in the woods, but sometimes we can see him in our own yard. Anybody have any idea who I am talking about?” No takers. He said, “I want to tell you about a creature that lives in the woods and sometimes in our yards, has a big bushy tail, and likes to eat nuts. Anybody have any idea what I’m talking about?” No takers. He said, “I’m talking about a creature that lives in the woods, sometimes visits our yard, has a big bushy tail, eats nuts, like to climb trees, and jumps from tree to tree. Now does anybody know what I’m talking about?” Wanting to take the pastor out of his misery, a boy raised his hand. The pastor said, “Do you know what I’m thinking about?” “Well, I know the answer should be Jesus, but it sounds like a squirrel to me.” -Copied- |
