Rules for Daily Life

7/29/2008

Begin the day with God
Kneel down to Him in prayer;
Lift up thy heart to His abode.
And seek His love to share.

Open the book of God
And read a portion there;
That it may hallow all thy thoughts,
And sweeten all thy care.

Go through the day with God
Whate’er thy work may be;
Where’er thou art-at home, abroad,
He still is near to thee.

Converge in mind with God
Thy spirit heavenward raise;
Acknowledge every good bestowed,
And offer grateful praise.

Conclude the day with God
Thy sins to Him confess;
Trust in the Lord’s atoning blood,
And plead His righteousness.

Lie down at night with God
Who gives His servants sleep;
And when thou tread’st the vale of death,
He will thee guard and keep.

Three Verses Which Can Change Your Life

7/24/2008

1.   Romans 10:9….That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raisedHim from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Personal salvation in Jesus Christ is an individual
experience.  Salvation is not at all hard or difficult.  If you will repent of your sins and call on Jesus Christ to save you, He will!  He died to do just that!

2.Philippians 4:13….I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Personal strength is in Jesus Christ as your helper in daily life.  He is a divine spring of help.  The words “through Him” infuses strength into us as we ask for help to live.

3.Philippians 4:19….But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Personal sustenance is ours to have if we ask Him.  My needs can be met according to Him and His wealth.  The word is need not want.  As a natural circulation of our blood continues daily, so there is a daily divine circulation of grace in Jesus Christ.  Call on Him daily!  These verses can change your life!

Introducing our Missionary: Paul Heuermann

First Baptist’s Sponsored Missionary:
            Paul Heuermann

          Personality Profile:

Address:  P. O. Box 724  UST;  Kumasi, Ghana;
West Africa

E-mail address:  heuerman@africaonline.com.gh

Mission field currently serving in: Ghana, West Africa

What other fields have you served in?  None

How long have you been a missionary?  Since April 1997

Wife’s maiden name:  Kerri Custer

Children’s names:  Michael, Stephen, Adrianna (Nikki)

My favorite hymn is “I Don’t Know About Tomorrow.”

My favorite subject in school was history.

The best advice I ever received was “Don’t Quit.”

Guests at my “fantasy dinner” would be Jesus and His disciples.

My favorite book (other than the Bible) is In His Steps.

My hobbies are reading and fishing.

I would love to visit Israel.

My “pet peeve” is a tractor driving on the road in Ghana.

The Bible character I most identify with is Moses because he was trained for 40 years to do what God wanted him to do.  I was “trained” for over 30.

The best thing about my ministry is the receptivity of the people to the gospel.

The worst thing about my ministry is the Harmaton (dry season from December through mid April when the hot north wind blows sand from the Sahara desert that is so thick it almost blots out the sun at times.)

The greatest need in this ministry is earnest prayers of God’s people.

Something most people don’t know about me is:  Do you really think I’m going to tell?

I want my children to remember no one fails until they quit trying.

I’d give anything to have met David Livingston.

I’d like for my epitaph to read:  “He made a difference.”

Showers of Blessings

Our Heavenly Father continues to bless us at First Baptist, for which our hearts are filled with praise and gratitude.

First, our Main Event “Soar” Youth group and sponsors had a good conference, safe flights, and no accidents.

Second, the “Patriot Day” was a God send with good words, beautiful music, Senator Wicker and wife Gayle, and a delicious church-wide meal.

Third, our own Minda Starling will be leaving Friday, the 11th, for Romania to work with the Romanian gypsies through our Volunteer Student Missions program.

Fourth, the “Outrigger Island” V.B.S. is ongoing for our children July 7th-11th (5:30-8:15 p.m.) and God is blessing the efforts.

To all who have given, prayed, worked, and sacrificed for these efforts, we ask God’s anointed blessings.

…”how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give…” Matthew 7:11

First Baptist Church welcomes U.S. Senator, Roger Wicker, as our 11:00 a.m. Worship speaker.  We celebrate our joy as Christians and as Americans.  Our color guard will post the colors, our sanctuary choir will share, "While There's Time," as we honor our veterans, "In God We Still Trust," and "You're A Grand Old Flag."

After the worship, we will enjoy a church-wide meal as the people of God celebrate our freedoms.  Bring a neighbor, a friend, and a smile!
