Concerning You and Me - Psalms 138:8

6/23/2008

“The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me”…… Ps. 138:8.  The confidence which the Psalmist David expressed was a divine confidence.  He was a wise person, he rested upon nothing short of the Lord’s work.

We can never be too confident when we confide in Him alone.  He, Jesus, has done it all, must do it all, and will do it all.  It is the Lord who has begun a good work within us.  Let’s stand on the Rock of Ages today.

Ten Ways to Mean More to Your Church

6/19/2008

Be an On-Timer...in fact, come a little early.  You are usually early or late.  Remember our services.

Be a Front-Seater...help fill the sanctuary from front to back, not vice versa.  Incidentally, you'll get more out of the service the nearer you sit to the front - less distractions.

Be a Hymn Singer...join in the song service regardless of your singing ability.  Meditate on the meaning of the words as well as the music.

Be a Good Greeter...help us keep our church a friendly church.  Greet everybody, but especially the stranger in the midst.

Be a Cutter-offer...when you are the last to leave the room, cut off the lights.  Help us stretch God's dollars for utilities.

Be a Cheerful Parker...even though we have parking areas, it still pays to park properly.

Be a Willing Helper...be ready to "lend a hand." Don't wait to be asked.  Volunteer your services.  Be available.  There is always a need - if you have eyes to see.

Be a Participating Pray-er...every service is an opportunity in prayer.  Use it!  Bow your head, bend your back, fold your hands, close your eyes - and pray!

Be a Sunday Nighter...don't leave your church out in the dark on Sunday night.  Be a Sunday-nighter.

High Price for Self-obsession

6/10/2008

We pay a high price for…self-obsession.  “God isn’t pleased at being ignored” (Romans 8:8 THE MESSAGE).  Paul speaks of…those who “knew God, but…wouldn’t worship him as God…so God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired” (Romans 1:21, 24 NLT).  You’ve seen the chaos.  The husband ignoring his wife.  The dictator murdering the millions.  Grown men seducing the young.  The young propositioning the old.  When you do what you want, and I do what I want, and no one gives a lick as to what God wants, humanity implodes… Extract God; expect earthly chaos and, many times worse, expect eternal misery.

I am the Lord.  There is no other God.
    Isaiah 45:18
