Mrs. A. R. Reddin in her study book, “What Time Is It?” shared the little book of Esther, which is full of surprises, presents its earliest startler in the first work – “now.” When is now? Or, is the expression a dangling, meaningless word?
The surprise is that the word is quite meaningful there. It suggests a close relationship between the book of Esther and the preceding books. The former books of Ezra and Nehemiah tell of the return of many Jews to their beloved Promised Land following the permissive decree of Cyrus about fifty years before Esther’s time (Ezra 1:1-4). The book of Esther follows with information about Jews who remained at home in Persia. Many other Old Testament historical books begin in the same manner and for a like purpose. Note that eight books before Esther begin with the word now. Dr. John M. Adams In the year 2014, you will see glorious things,
For out of the heart of God, miracles spring! There will be a Holy Spirit explosion, As God’s Army moves forward with devotion. Many will come to know Jesus through salvation. For others, the road will be paved for restoration. Many broken hearts will be mended, And forgiveness will flow for those offended. So lift your voices and give Him praise, Shout out His truth and let His banner be raised. Encourage each other to stand strong, And remember that to God’s awesome Kingdom we belong. Pamela McFerrin Thompson January 2014 1. Stay focused on, and committed to, key life goals.
2. Be patient as I strive to achieve my goals. 3. Avoid letting fatigue, self-doubt, or criticism from others trip me up as I strive to fulfill ambitions. 4. Share my goals with God and ask Him for the wisdom and the will to achieve them. Start Fresh Finish Strong |
