We are less than a week away from our Mission Trip to Nashville, TN. While we making our final preparations, please continue praying for us as we travel next week. We are excited to be going to the “Music City” and our mission is to represent God and our church very well. I am praying for each student who goes to grow closer to God and be able to break down any barriers that are between them so they will come home with their heart in a better place. I want each person to feel as though they have given their time and efforts wholeheartedly and held nothing back. Our goals are that everyone feels the spirit of the Lord through our actions and deeds.
DeVo-2gO: Psalm 35:9 “My soul shall be joyful in the Lord; it shall rejoice in his salvation.” A positive attitude come from knowing God, and a joyful heart comes from being saved by God. When we are truly saved by God, we should be positive in the way we live our lives and impact the lives of those around us. God should put a joy inside us that is never-ending. The world is going to get ugly from time to time, but we must learn to see the outcome of it all……God Will Prevail.

With less than 2 weeks away from our mission trip, we are asking for your help to cover travel expenses to and from Nashville. If you would like to help, please make your donations to “Mission Miles” and give your offering to the church. We really appreciate your help and prayers and we shine our light for God’s glory in Nashville, TN. Good Job!
A special thanks to Drew Armstrong as he brought the message to us last Wednesday. This was the first time we had a 7th grader lead out in presenting the Word of God to our youth group. Please pray for Drew as he continues to show a good example for our youth group.
DeVo-2gO: James2:17 “Faith without works is dead”. Claiming to have faith in God and not showing it to others or to God himself is pointless. God wants us to demonstrate our faith to everyone by working for Him. Both are equally important.

Mission Nashville 2012 (May 21-25)
We are less than 3 weeks from our mission trip this summer and our students are getting excited about this opportunity to serve in the city of Nashville. We are getting closer to having our trip paid off, but with the high gas prices and an extra van rental, we need your help with our remaining costs. If you would like to help with our travel expenses, please make an offering to “Mission Miles”. Also, please be praying for us to have a safe trip and to touch the lives of those we come in contact with. I pray that our students will benefit from a chance to serve others and to grow closer together as a youth group while we are away.
Our mission trip information is posted on the bulletin board in the Amphitheatre if you wish to get an idea of the type of work we will be doing and a schedule of our week. A list of all the students going is also posted if you would like to help out a student who still owes money.
Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Define Distance- The extent of space between two objects or places; an intervening space. When we think of distance, chances are we are usually thinking about how far we are away from a destination or place or person we would like to be. Maybe you even think about how far away you are from your favorite restaurant when you are hungry. Distance can also describe the amount of space between you and perhaps something you learned or in the process of learning, say for example your Christianity. In other words, how much distance is between you and God? Maybe it can’t be calculated in miles, but you know if He is truly in your heart each day you can feel Him. God should become an experience within you, just like you feel when you go to your favorite vacation spot and truly have the time of your life. If you are not close to God, then you can’t enjoy the luxuries of the life He has in store for you, so it is important for you to shorten the distance between you and Him so your life can and will have more meaning.
“To much distance between you and God means too much sin is keeping you from Him.”
YOUTH BBQ LUNCHEON Thank you church family for another successful BBQ luncheon. With your help we were able to raise $800 for our Mission trip to Nashville. Please continue praying for us as we prepare to go where God leads us.

Have you ever thought why Christianity is dying away or becoming extinct? Why are Christians becoming the world’s most hated and persecuted culture? There are several answers to these 2 questions. First of all, hypocrisy is at the top of the list. A lot of Christians see themselves on top and everyone else at the bottom when it should be the opposite. Jesus set the example by becoming a servant and so should we. Christians are being labeled and picked apart because we tend to find the faults in everyone around us, but never take the time to find our own. Christians, who are trying to help others avoid the sin life, are usually wrapped up in their own. Also, where is the love? God is love and we should show His love to others. We are seeing more and more hate rather than love and too much giving up after the first try. Patience and love have been sent to the back of the line, while resentment, self-centeredness, and anger are at the front. And finally, God’s Word should never be excluded from anyone. We are reaching the time where churches and Christians are judging others by what they see in others and forgetting the fact that God wants His Word to reach the ears of everyone. We can’t keep our doors shut and discriminate those who need to hear the Word. We have to reach out and gather the flock. LAZINESS is taking over our Christian culture, and our so-called Christians just want a quick fix of Jesus so they can go on with their week. We get out of Christianity only what we are willing to put in. YOUTH BBQ LUNCHEON This Sunday we are having a BBQ Luncheon to help raise money for our Summer Mission Trip. We are using Bishop’s BBQ and plates are $7 each. Each plate will include BBQ meat, bun, chips, slaw, baked beans, dessert, and tea. This will be the final fundraiser for our trip and we hope to do well. Your support will be appreciated.

Did you know there's symbolic spiritual significance in a number of Easter traditions that have become widely accepted within secular culture? Understanding these traditions can provide you with a natural opening to talk about your faith with your friends. So stop a moment this week and think about the symbolic traditions that surface every year at Easter time and talk about their spiritual significance with others. Here are a few Easter traditions to consider:
Easter Eggs: The Easter egg represents new life - the new spiritual life in Christ that is possible as a result of Jesus' death and resurrection. The typical pastel colors of the Easter eggs further represent this theme of new life, calling to mind the pastel colors of spring and the new growth of buds and flowers as they burst forth with life after a long winter. The Apostle Paul described new life in Christ this way: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”(2Corinthians5:17).
Easter Egg Hunt: The hunt for Easter eggs serves as a symbol of each individual's need to seek and find new life in Christ. Seeking and finding are things Jesus taught about, but the treasure Jesus challenges us to seek far surpasses chocolate eggs or jelly beans. The treasure Jesus offers for those who seek spiritual truth is a treasure beyond measure, the gift of eternal life through His death and resurrection. And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks. (Luke 11:9-10)
Easter Lily: The pure white flower of the Easter lily represents the purity of Christ. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life as the Son of God. He offers us forgiveness of our sins through faith in Him, and in turn purifies us from our sin and 'washes us whiter than snow. “‘Come now, let us reason together,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’” (Isaiah 1:18, NIV)

I thought I would take an opportunity to inform our church family about our upcoming summer mission trip to Nashville, TN. Our dates are set for May 21 – May 25. We have been connected with an organization called “Hands On Nashville” to participate in our mission work and it looks to be a great chance to help others around the community of Nashville. This organization has several volunteer opportunities available and we were able to select a couple of different ways to minister to others. We are currently signed up to work at their food bank, in which we will help as they feed hungry families in the area. We are also signed up to work at an urban farm preparation & maintenance area. There are currently 19 students and sponsors who are participating this summer and we are truly looking forward to serving in the city of Nashville. We will also spend time in daily Bible studies. Our goal is to represent F.B.C. Mantachie and glorify God in all we do. Please be in prayer for us as we prepare to minister to others through this mission trip. To find out more about Hands on Nashville, you can look up their website at www.HON.org. for more details. Belk Charity Sale Event Tickets For Sale

Sometimes when we feel distant from God, it is best to find a way to refocus. This may include spending a lot of quality time in prayer, talking it over with a spiritual leader, or searching for answers through God’s Word. Nevertheless when we find ourselves in the battle of trying to stay on top with God, it takes a lot of effort on our part to make it happen. Most people, though, just continue to slip down the slide into Satan’s arms instead of putting forth the effort to stop. Everyone goes through low points in their faith and even though God is still their waiting for your return, we tend to find more ways to ignore Him. The key word is “Momentum”, and how do we gain it when we are falling away from God. This will be the topic of our Wednesday night discussion as we get a little deeper into our hearts and see if we can all gain some momentum for our spiritual journey.

Influence is something that can be picked up by either good or bad intentions. For example, think about the stuff that influences you. Now think about whether or not they are good or bad influences. What about your friends? Do you have to change your ways in order to fit in with your friends? If you do, then this is probably not a good influence for you. True friends should accept you the way you are and not make you change. Relationships are no different. If you find yourself changing what you do and who you are for a boyfriend or girlfriend; then you need to stop and see what you are becoming. There should only be one influence in your life that factors into you changing your ways and He is God. If you are changing for anything else, it’s just not worth it.
SPECIAL THANKS A special thanks to Lee Loden and The Challenger’s Class for giving us the opportunity to lead out in the worship services this past Sunday.

While reading my Daily Devotional by Billy Graham, I ran across a devo that I wanted to share with you. It was entitled “Strength and Weakness” and it dealt with trusting God through our times of trouble and allowing Him to be our strength through it all. We tend to become very self-centered and lean on ourselves when things seem to not go our way and that’s not how it supposed to be. Man seems to find his safe haven in man instead of God most of the times. In 2Corinthians 12:10 Paul states, “When I am weak, then I am strong”, acknowledging that his weakness makes him stronger through God. I know it sounds funny, but when we think about it makes perfect sense. We are humans and very weak, but when we use God as our crutch and support, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. Trust more in Him to be your support and guide and less in ourselves and others and watch how great our God can become.
